Gift Card Apps for Clover POS, Compared
Last updated: August 2026
This page is for a Clover merchant deciding which gift card program to run: you already have the terminal, and now you are choosing between Clover's built-in cards and the third-party apps in the Clover App Market.
One thing up front: this site is Factor4, so read the table critically. We have tried to earn the benefit of the doubt by sourcing every competitor value to the vendor's own published pages, linking those sources under the table, and writing “ask” where a number is not public rather than guessing. There is also a section below on when Clover's built-in cards are the better choice, because for some merchants they are.

What actually matters when you choose
Will it run on the device you have
Everything in the table redeems on a Clover register, but check the specific device. Station Duo, Mini and Flex behave differently with printed card stock and swipe hardware, and a digital-first vendor may expect you to key codes by hand. Ask each vendor to name your exact model before you order cards.
What the first 50 cards really cost
The headline per-card price is rarely the number that decides this. Add the design fee, the minimum order and the first month's platform fee, and a “cheaper” card can cost more to start: a $100 design fee plus a 100-card minimum is a materially bigger first invoice than $0 design on 50 cards. Our full breakdown lives in what a Clover gift card program costs.
Can you bring existing balances
If you already sell gift cards, the only question that matters on day one is whether cards in customers' wallets keep working. Ask whether the vendor imports balances, what file they need from your current provider, how long the cutover takes, and what happens to a card presented mid-migration.
Who picks up the phone in December
Gift card problems arrive on the busiest evenings of the year. Email-only support is fine in March and painful on December 23rd. Compare published support hours, not the promise of “great support”, and check whether weekends are covered.
When Clover's built-in cards are the right choice
Clover's native program is genuinely the simplest option, and there are cases where adding another vendor is not worth it:
- Very small volume. If you sell a handful of cards a year, one fewer vendor and one fewer bill beats any feature comparison.
- No custom design needed. If a plain card is fine, you are not paying for artwork and the design fee stops mattering.
- Already on a reseller bundle. If gift cards are included in a package you already pay for, your marginal cost is close to zero — check your statement before you shop.
- Single location, in-person only. No shared balances across sites and no online redemption plans means you will not hit the native limits.
When to choose Factor4
- You want a custom card. Design is included at $0, so branded stock costs you nothing but the approval round.
- You want fewer than 100 cards. The 50-card minimum exists precisely for a first order you are not sure about yet.
- You want loyalty and gift on one platform. One customer record and one balance system instead of two apps — see how loyalty runs on Clover.
- You are switching and have outstanding balances. Migration keeps existing cards working — how switching works.
- You want phone support seven days a week. Including the weekend before Christmas.
- You run multiple locations. One shared balance across every site — multi-location gift cards.
